Of course, today with the rise of the internet, many people send cards online, but it just is not quite the same as getting that paper greeting card. It is a tradition in many cultures, and almost an insult not to purchase a proper greeting card for memorable occasions. Computers are awesome and they make everyone's life more productive, but they cannot replace the paper greeting card.

The shelves are full of deep and touching greeting cards that many people simply are not comfortable sending because it is so different from their personality. This is why many people choose the funny greeting cards. Making someone smile or laugh can certainly make their day as well if not more than a sentimental greeting. Additionally, you may have family members or friends that are not sentimental, so they would not understand a serious greeting. That is where the humorous and funny greeting cards come into play.

The greeting card business is alive and well and so ingrained in society that it is not something that a computer greeting could ever replace.
